The emperor's effigy displays finely rendered military attire, with the cuirass showing detailed engraving at the shoulder. The obverse legend CONSTANTINVS AVG runs along the outer border, identifying the emperor with his imperial title. | Descrizione del rovescio | A tall, ornately decorated altar or base surmounted by a globe, flanked by three stars above, symbolising divine celestial favour and imperial vota. The face of the altar is inscribed with the votive formula VO/TIS/XX arranged in three horizontal lines, referencing the emperor's twentieth vow anniversary. The reverse legend BEATA TRANQVILLITAS encircles the upper field, proclaiming the blessed tranquillity of the reign. The mintmark STR● appears in the exergue, identifying this issue as the product of the second officina at the Treveri mint. |
