Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Constantine I facing right, rendered in the assertive military style characteristic of the Constantinian period. The emperor's laureate wreath is rendered with fine detail, and the paludamentum is visible at the left shoulder. The obverse legend IMP CONSTANTINVS AVG runs around the periphery in a clockwise direction. The portrait exhibits the strong, idealized facial features associated with official Tetrarchic and early Constantinian imperial iconography.
