背面描述 Mars, the god of war and divine protector (MARTI CONSERVATORI), is depicted standing facing left, helmeted and in military attire, holding a spear in his right hand and resting his left hand upon a shield set on the ground. The field to the left and right carries the officina and control marks T and F respectively, while the exergue bears the mint mark PTR identifying the Treveri (Augusta Treverorum) mint. The reverse legend MARTI CON-SERVATORI, split across the field, invokes Mars as protector of Constantine, reflecting the emperor's early solar and martial religious associations before his Christianization. The coin exhibits significant wear and surface porosity consistent with extended circulation.

附加信息

The MARTI CONSERVATORI series from Treveri reflects Constantine's deliberate cultivation of Sol Invictus and Mars as divine patrons during the years immediately following his break with Maximian in 310 — a political rupture that ended in Maximian's forced suicide at Marseille. The T F mintmark places this piece among the officina outputs that ramped up sharply as Constantine consolidated the Rhine frontier and prepared for the civil wars that would ultimately end at Milvian Bridge.

RIC VI 854 is not a common variety. Treveri was Constantine's principal western mint during this period, and attribution of individual officina letters remains the primary means of sequencing production across what was an unusually compressed three-year window.
