Obverse description Laureate bust of Constantine I facing right, draped and cuirassed, depicted with a robust profile characteristic of his later portraiture. The emperor wears a multi-rowed laurel wreath with prominent ties visible at the nape. The legend is arranged in two segments around the periphery of the flan, reading CONSTAN-TINVS AVG, within a beaded border. The die work reflects the energetic, stylized engraving style of the Heraclean mint in the mid-320s.
