This issue belongs to the massive "Two Victories" series struck across western mints in 347–348 to mark the vicennalia and decennalia of Constantius II and Constans respectively — a coordinated propaganda effort celebrating their joint rule. Trier's output for this type was substantial, and RIC VIII 182 is among the commoner Treveri entries. The mint was still operating at high capacity in this period, having survived the political turbulence of the usurper Magnentius only a few years later in 350, when Constans was killed fleeing toward the Pyrenees.
