| Opis rewersu | Two helmeted, draped, and cuirassed soldiers stand facing one another in a frontal composition, each holding an inverted spear in the outer hand while resting the inner hand upon a grounded shield. A single military standard is positioned between them, serving as the central focal point of the design. The reverse legend GLORIA EXERCITVS, rendered in two lines flanking the central group, proclaims the glory of the armies and is a type widely employed across the Constantinian dynasty. The mintmark and officina letter appear in the exergue, identifying the mint of Arelatum (Arles) and the specific workshop. This two-soldier, one-standard variant distinguishes later issues within the GLORIA EXERCITVS series from the earlier two-standard type. |
