The FEL TEMP REPARATIO ("happy times are here again") coinage was launched in 348 AD to mark the 1,100th anniversary of Rome's founding, a propaganda exercise ordered by Constans and his co-emperor Constantius II across every western and eastern mint simultaneously. Treveri — modern Trier — was at this point still one of the most active mints in the empire, processing metal from Rhenish sources and supplying coinage to the Rhine frontier garrisons.
Constans himself never saw the series reach full circulation. He was overthrown and killed in January 350 by the usurper Magnentius, making late Treveri issues from this type potentially attributable to the final weeks of his reign.
