| Description du revers | Two helmeted, draped, and cuirassed soldiers standing facing one another, each holding an inverted spear in the outer hand while resting the inner hand upon a grounded shield. Between them stands a single legionary standard, the arrangement symbolizing military unity and strength. The reverse legend GLORIA EXERCITVS, meaning 'Glory of the Army,' is divided across the field on either side of the central group. The mintmark and officina letter appear in the exergue below. This single-standard variant of the Gloria Exercitus type was introduced following the death of Constantine I in 337 AD. |
