| Obverse description | Diademed, draped, and mantled bust of Empress Aelia Flaccilla facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and bound with a pearl diadem, necklace visible at the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period, with a relatively large head occupying much of the flan. The encircling Latin legend reads AEL FLAC-CILLA AVG, interrupted by the bust, with a plain border at the rim. |
