Obverse description Nude youth on horseback riding right, wearing a crested helmet and holding a lance or palm branch; the horse is depicted in a prancing pose with forelegs raised. Beneath the horse, a bearded male head facing forward (gorgoneion or heroic head), rendered in high relief with expressive detail. The magistrate's name KY NΩN appears in the field, divided to either side of the composition. The style is characteristic of the skilled Tarentine die-cutters of the late period, combining vigorous movement with fine anatomical detail.
