Obverse description Nude ephebic horseman galloping to right, grasping a round shield and two spears in his extended left hand while thrusting downward with a spear held in his raised right hand, depicting a warrior in the act of combat. The letter Ξ appears in the left field, and the magistrate's signature API is inscribed below the horse. The vigorous equestrian composition is rendered in the dynamic late Classical style characteristic of Tarentine coinage of this period.
