Beschrijving keerzijde	The city's eponymous founder Taras is depicted seated sideways astride a dolphin leaping to the left, holding a kantharos in one hand together with a shield and trident, with stylized waves rendered in the exergue below. The legend ΤΑΡΑΣ identifies the figure, with the magistrate's or engraver's initial Π appearing in the lower field. The reverse type evokes the mythological foundation narrative of Taras, son of Poseidon, who arrived at the site of the city borne by a dolphin. The finely engraved drapery and confident rendering of the marine setting reflect the high artistic standards of the Tarentine mint during this period.
