| Obverse description | Nude youth on horseback cantering to left, his body rendered with fine anatomical detail characteristic of late Classical Greek craftsmanship. The rider holds a round shield (aspis) in his outstretched left hand, its boss clearly delineated in high relief. The magistrate's abbreviation ΣI appears in the upper right field, while the engraver's signature ΦΙΛΟΚΛΗΣ is inscribed along the lower exergual border. The horse is depicted in a vigorous canter, its musculature and mane rendered with considerable artistic skill. |

| Reverse description | Taras, the mythological founder and eponymous hero of the city, depicted nude and seated to the left astride a dolphin leaping leftward above the wave line. His extended right arm offers a wreath toward the left field, and his supple torso is modeled in the elegant style of the early Hellenistic period. The ethnic legend TAPAΣ appears vertically along the right field, with the secondary inscription ΛY below, serving as a magistrate's or die-cutter's mark. A small symbol appears in the lower exergue beneath the dolphin. |
