| Obverse description | Head of a female divinity, most likely a nymph or river deity, facing right, with elaborately bound hair adorned with a wreath or diadem, rendered in the fine South Italian Greek style characteristic of the late fifth to early fourth century BC. The hair is pulled back in a krobylos and secured with a kekryphalos, with loose curling locks falling at the nape of the neck. The facial features are delicately modeled with a serene expression. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, consistent with hand-struck coinage of Campanian mints. |
