| Obverse description | Head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with a guilloche or egg-and-dart band along the brow and decorated cheekpieces. The hair emerges in loose, curling locks beneath the helmet rim, rendered in the fine Campanian style of the late fifth century BC. The broad, smooth cheek and strong facial features are characteristic of the early Hyrian die-cutters, influenced by contemporary South Italian artistic conventions. No legend appears on the obverse field. |
