Reverse description Herakles, depicted nude and in right profile, wrestles the Nemean lion, grasping the beast firmly about the neck with both hands as the lion struggles beneath him. To the left in the field, his club and bow are represented as attributes. Above to the upper left, the letter Α appears, while the ethnic legend ΗΡΑΚΛΗΙΩΝ runs around the design. The composition exemplifies the vigorous naturalistic style of Lucanian die-engraving during the fourth century BC.
