Reverse description Herakles stands in three-quarter view to the left, his muscular nude figure leaning on a heavy club planted beside him, as he pours a libation over a low rectangular altar before him. A filleted boukranion (ox skull adorned with a fillet) appears in the upper left field, serving as a religious symbol of sacrifice. The scene is enclosed within a delicate cable border, executed in the incuse technique characteristic of early Achaean-tradition coinage from Magna Graecia. The composition reflects accomplished die-cutting in the severe to early classical style.
