Reverse description Incuse relief of the obverse design, with the figure of Apollo, the small running daemon on his outstretched arm, and the stag all rendered in sunken intaglio, a hallmark of the early Achaean coinage of Magna Graecia. The reverse carries no legend. The incuse technique, associated with the Pythagorean school of coinage, produces a mirror image of the obverse in shallow relief within a flat, recessed field.
