Reverse description Apollo, nude, standing facing with head turned to the left, holding a slender laurel branch in his extended right hand, the branch resting upon a low altar before him, while his left hand holds a bow. The figure is rendered in the severe to early classical style, with careful attention to anatomical proportion characteristic of Magna Graecian die-engraving of the mid-fifth century BC. The reverse is struck incuse, consistent with the Achaean coinage tradition of the western Greek colonies, presenting the design in sunken relief within a shallow rectangular or linear border.
