| Obverse description | Forepart of a stag advancing to the right with head reverted, rendered in archaic Ionian style. The animal's dappled coat is suggested by carefully placed indentations or punch-marks scattered across the body, a characteristic artistic convention of early Ephesian coinage. The design is confined within the small flan, with the stag's neck and chest occupying the central field. No legend or inscription is present. The naturalistic yet stylized treatment of the stag reflects the refined craftsmanship associated with the earliest electrum coinages of western Anatolia. |
