A small seal (phoke), the civic badge of Phokaia, appears in the right field adjacent to the lion's head. The design is executed in the archaic Ionian style characteristic of early electrum coinage from the region. |

The incuse punch is irregular in outline, consistent with early archaic hammered coinage technique, with no additional devices or inscriptions present in the field. |
