Obverse description A Paschal Lamb facing left with head turned to the right is depicted within a polylobe (polyfoil) frame at the center of the field, rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of mid-14th-century French royal coinage. The lamb, symbolic of Christ as the Agnus Dei, is shown in profile with a nimbus and rests upon a ground line. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central motif, separated from the inner design by a beaded border.
