Obverse description The central field depicts a detailed relief of the Church of Notre-Dame de Pontivy (Morbihan, Brittany), surrounded by trees and foliage. In the upper portion, a prominent gargoyle in high relief — traditionally said to represent the Empress Eugénie — projects over the church facade. The legend PONTIVY arcs across the top and NAPOLÉONVILLE curves along the lower periphery, with the dates 1804 ET 1852 appearing in the exergue.
