Obverse description Central device depicts the interior of the Eglise Souterraine St-Jean d'Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, a famous underground Romanesque church carved into rock, shown in detailed relief with its arched colonnade and rocky cavern surroundings. The circular legend around the periphery reads EGLISE SOUTERRAINE ST-JEAN at the top and AUBETERRE-SUR-DRONNE at the bottom, flanked by ornamental stops.

Reverse description The central field features the facade of the Monnaie de Paris building in relief, set within a hexagonal frame with the inscription MONNAIE DE PARIS below and the mintmaster's mark EVM. The legend FRANCE 2011 appears at 12 o'clock within an inner circle of 27 stars. Around the outer periphery, the word France is rendered in eight languages in alternating scripts.
