Obverse description Veiled and diademed effigy of Queen Arsinoe II facing right, wearing a stephane adorned with a horn of Ammon and a veil draped over the head; a lotus-tipped scepter rests over the far shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic court style with fine die-cutting, exhibiting idealized yet individualizing features characteristic of Ptolemaic royal portraiture. The field is smooth and unlettered, with the veil's folds rendered in careful relief.
