Obverse description Central field features a large Gothic letter 'N' flanked on either side by a small annelet, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend, rendered in uncial Gothic characters, reads + GVILL: COMeS : N, identifying the issuer as William, Count of Namur. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hammered medieval coinage, with the type exhibiting the flat, worn relief typical of low-denomination mites struck in the fourteenth century.
