Each quarter contains a concave, leaf- or lune-shaped device, forming a symmetrical quatrefoil composition typical of Flemish and Brabantine mite coinage of the mid-fifteenth century. The cross design is boldly struck but shows the characteristic flan irregularities and surface roughness of hammered copper issues.
