| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse bears five horizontal lines of pseudo-legend text arranged across the field, imitating the epigraphic style of Byzantine miliaresia but rendered as unintelligible or debased characters. A small ornament, possibly a cross or rosette, appears above the uppermost line. The lettering is deeply punched in a crude, provincial manner, with individual characters showing varying degrees of legibility. The overall layout faithfully mimics the five-line inscribed reverse of contemporary Byzantine silver coinage. The flan is broken and irregular, consistent with the hammered production technique of the Tmutarakan mint. |
