| Beschrijving keerzijde | The entire reverse field is occupied by a five-line Greek inscription in large, bold Byzantine uncial characters, identifying the three co-ruling emperors. The text reads +ROMANО` / XPISTOFOR` / CECОNSTAN` / EN XΩ EVSE / b` bASIL` R`, abbreviating the names and titles of Romanos I Lekapenos, his son Christopher Lekapenos, and Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos, collectively described as pious basileis of the Romans in Christ. The inscription is contained within a double beaded border consistent with the obverse, and the flan retains the characteristic slight curvature of hammered Byzantine miliaresia. |
