| Beschrijving voorzijde | A cross potent with globular terminals rises from a three-stepped base (Calvary mount), with a globus at the foot of the shaft. The arms of the cross terminate in small crosslets, and the entire design is rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style typical of middle Byzantine silver coinage. The circular legend reading IHSUS XRISTUS NICA (Jesus Christ conquers) is disposed around the cross within the field. The border consists of a triple row of beaded grenetis, characteristic of Constantinopolitan miliaresia of the tenth century. |
