| Reverse description | Central field presents a facing bust of Saint Ambrose, patron of Milan, wearing a mitre and episcopal vestments rendered in hammered relief. The bishop's face is bearded and depicted with a degree of portraiture characteristic of late 15th-century Milanese coinage. Flanking the bust in the field are the mint mark letters S and A. The entire device is enclosed within an inner beaded circle, with the circumferential Latin legend between the beaded border and the coin's edge acknowledging Ludovico Sforza as regent. |
