| 正面描述 | Central field features the crowned Medici coat of arms — a shield bearing six roundels (palle) arranged in the traditional Medici disposition — suspended from an ornate mantle tied with a decorative knot beneath a ducal crown. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend in Latin reads ALEXANDER MED R P FLOREN DVX, identifying Alessandro de' Medici as Duke of the Florentine Republic. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with a beaded border, characteristic of hammered Renaissance coinage. |

Alessandro de' Medici's tenure as Duke of Florence — the first duke, technically, after Clement VII and Charles V reshaped the republic into a hereditary state in 1532 — ended with his murder by his cousin Lorenzino in January 1537. The coinage struck across those five years consequently spans a narrow window, and the mezzo giulio denomination was tied directly to the papal monetary system Alessandro's family had long dominated.
Lorenzino fled to Venice after the killing, never facing trial.
