Matej Gábriš is a Slovak legal scholar and collector who designed this annual membership note for his own collectors' association — a self-referential curiosity where the designer, the honoree, and presumably much of the intended audience are the same person. The "Gábrišovka" is a privately issued fantasy note in the tradition of Central European collector scrip, circulating purely as a membership token rather than any form of exchange medium. The watermark is a genuine security feature, not decorative — an unusual commitment to production quality for what amounts to a club membership card.
