Reverse description A plain cross pattee occupies the central field, with the mint mark letter 'L' for Lisbon positioned either below or to the left of the cross depending on the die variety. The cross is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, around which a circular Latin devotional legend is struck. The workmanship is consistent with mid-14th-century Portuguese hammered silver technique, with some characteristic weakness at the flan edges.
