| Reverse description | The reverse field presents a four-line Arabic inscription arranged horizontally across the flan, reading 'عز نصره / في / حلب / ٩٢٢,' recording the pious Ottoman mint epithet 'May his victory be glorious' in the uppermost register, followed by the preposition 'في' (in), the mint name Haleb (Aleppo), and the AH date 922 corresponding to 1516 CE. The layout follows the standard Ottoman hammered coinage convention of stacking the acclamation formula above the mint and date. The flan is slightly oval and irregular, consistent with hand-struck blanks of the early sixteenth century. No borders, pellets, or ornamental devices appear in the field. |
