Obverse description Conjoined jugate busts of Queen Victoria in left profile, depicting her as a young woman at the time of her accession (left) and as an older, veiled and crowned sovereign (right), with the dates 1837 and 1887 flanking the busts in the lower field. An imperial crown surmounts the junction of the two effigies at centre, set within a decorative scrollwork frame. The legend VICTORIA REGINA appears in a raised banner along the lower rim, and the whole disc is surrounded by an ornamental wreath of laurel branches with a fleur-de-lis suspension loop above.
