Obverse description The obverse features two conjoined armorial shields in the central field, each set within a circular frame and flanked by crossed anchors, with decorative scrollwork joining them at the centre. The left shield depicts a dockside warehouse with a sailing vessel, while the right shield bears a lion rampant above an anchor. The circumferential legend, separated from the field by a rope border, reads EAST & WEST INDIA DOCK COMPANY. A suspension hole is pierced at the top.
