| Obverse description | A female allegorical figure, representing Hope or Britannia, is seated in left profile in the field, resting against a large heraldic shield bearing the Royal Arms of Great Britain. She raises her right hand and leans upon a plinth on which rest a bishop's mitre and a crozier, with a palm frond below. The engraver's initials T.P.F. appear on the plinth. The legend SPES PUBLICA arcs around the upper field within a raised border. |
