Reverse description A coiled serpent lurks concealed amid tall grass or reeds in the centre field, beneath a radiant sunburst filling the upper portion of the design. The legend NOURISHED TO TORMENT arcs along the upper rim, and the date JULY 14. / 1791 appears in a rectangular exergue at the base, commemorating the Birmingham Revolution dinner that preceded the Priestley Riots.
