Obverse description Detailed architectural view in relief of the principal entrance gateway to the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, featuring the central Mughal-style onion dome flanked by minarets and ornamental pinnacles. The inscription 'W.R. IIII' and 'A.D. MDCCCXXXII' appear on the gatehouse facade below a crown. In the exergue, the maker's signature 'J. LANGRIDGE. BRIGHTON. DIREX.' is inscribed, with the circular legend around the periphery.
