Obverse description A detailed architectural view in relief of Birmingham Town Hall rendered in three-quarter perspective, depicting the neo-classical building with its colonnade of Corinthian columns and rusticated podium. The legend 'BIRMINGHAM TOWN HALL' curves along the upper field, while the lower field contains dimensional inscriptions and a reference to the First Musical Festival of October 1834. The engraver's name 'HALLIDAY' appears in small letters at the base of the building.
