Reverse description The reverse bears entirely inscribed text in the central field recording the royal visit, surmounted by a small crown device. A circular legend running around the border names J. Dent Weatherley Esq., Mayor of Newcastle, and George Hawks Esq., Mayor of Gateshead, together with references to both corporations receiving an address and the High Level Bridge. The central inscription records that Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and the Royal Family passed through Newcastle upon Tyne on Friday 29 September 1849.
