| Obverse description | Queen Victoria, crowned and enthroned, is depicted in high relief at centre before the neoclassical facade of St George's Hall, Liverpool. Four allegorical female figures surround her: Architecture to the left presenting architectural drawings, Music with a lyre, Justice with scales, and a seated figure writing, likely representing History or Law. A bust monument inscribed ELMES on its pedestal appears to the left of the throne. Designer and maker signatures appear in the lower exergue. |
