Obverse description The obverse depicts in high relief a wedding ceremony scene with five figures: the bride in a long trailing gown and the groom joined at the altar before a officiating clergyman, flanked by two attendants to the left and one to the right. Above the scene radiates a sunburst motif, with a suspension hole pierced at the top of the medal. The legend in the exergue reads MARRIED MARCH 10 1863.

Reverse description The reverse bears a central multi-line inscription in relief within a wreath of roses and laurel branches, surmounted by the Prince of Wales feathers badge with the motto ICH DIEN on a scroll and a coronet below. At the base, two conjoined heart-shaped shields display heraldic arms. The suspension hole is pierced at the top.
