Beschrijving voorzijde A highly detailed ceremonial scene in high relief depicting Queen Victoria and Prince Albert standing on a dais beneath a canopied throne, receiving a kneeling dignitary presenting the City Address, surrounded by numerous courtiers and spectators filling the field. The City of London and royal arms appear in decorative cartouche at the top of the field. The legend appears in an ornamental scrollwork cartouche at the base.

A multi-line historical inscription in the lower field and exergue records the building's history from its founding to its opening by Queen Victoria in 1844.
