Reverse description A mourning Britannia is depicted seated left in the foreground, resting her head on her hand in a gesture of grief, with a lion recumbent beside her and a shield to her right. Behind her stands a large sarcophagus on a plinth inscribed with Wellington's death date and age. A curved legend arcs above, and the entire design is enclosed within a broad wreath of laurel branches. The engraver's name OTTLEY BIRM. appears in the lower exergue.
