Reverse description Mourning Britannia seated in grief upon a recumbent lion, her head resting on one hand, with a shield bearing the Union flag at her side, before a large pedestal tomb inscribed with the details of Prince Albert's death. The scene is surrounded by a wreath of laurel branches, with the legend arcing around the upper field and the engraver's name 'OTTLEY BIRM.' below in the exergue. The tomb inscription reads: 'THE PRINCE CONSORT DIED DECEM. 14 1861 AGED 42'.
