| Reverse description | The Star of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India occupies the centre of the field, rendered in high relief with a sunburst surround and the motto 'HEAVEN'S LIGHT OUR GUIDE' encircling the star. The word 'INDIA' appears above the star in radiant lettering. Four crowned VRI cyphers are placed at the cardinal points around the star, with lotus flowers in bloom flanking the design at left and right. A crowned Royal Shield of arms is displayed at the lower centre. Roman numeral dates MDCCCXXXVII and MDCCCXCVII appear to lower left and right respectively, with 'SPINK & SON LONDON' inscribed along the left margin. |
