Reverse description The reverse displays a highly detailed architectural cross-section of the interior of the New Coal Exchange, showing the domed rotunda with its glazed ceiling, ornate balconies, and tiled floor, rendered in fine relief. Flanking the central architectural view are decorative acanthus scrollwork panels surmounted by heraldic dragons. The City of London coat of arms appears in the lower exergue, and the surrounding legend names the Lord Mayor, the Chairman of the Committee, and the architect. The outer border features a rope-twist rim.
