Obverse description The central field depicts five soldiers in berets standing in relief on a raised platform, the leftmost figure holding a rifle; the inscription on the base of the platform reads 'FROM MUD, THROUGH BLOOD, TO THE GREEN FIELDS BEYOND'. The group is framed by an open laurel wreath, with the Bayerisches Münzkontor mintmark below the wreath at the base. Two concentric legends follow the border, separated by five-pointed stars.

Reverse description The reverse features a colourised pad-printed background depicting Union Jack bunting and period newspaper front pages celebrating VE Day, against which five figures are shown in raised relief standing on a balcony draped with fabric: from left, Princess Elizabeth, Queen Elizabeth, Winston Churchill (centre, not waving), King George VI, and Princess Margaret, all waving except Churchill. The bold legend 'VE-DAY' occupies the lower field, with the date '8 MAY 1945' below, and a Churchill speech extract runs along the full border.
